Mr. Bolbongse Vangphaen, Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, highlighted the transboundary nature of the cybercrime and called for a united front, urging collaboration among all stakeholders across different domains, including public/private sectors and civil society.

Thailand, with Russia and China, co-chaired the 2nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Workshop on Countering the Use of ICTs for Criminal Purposes, which was held both in Moscow and virtually on 23-24 May 2024.

In his pre-recorded opening remarks, Mr. Bolbongse Vangphaen, Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, highlighted the transboundary nature of the cybercrime. He called for a united front, urging collaboration among all stakeholders across different domains, including public/private sectors and civil society. He also stressed the importance of effective national measures alongside strong international cooperation to effectively address this growing threat.



On this occasion, representatives from the Office of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society also actively participated as panelists by showcasing Thailand’s legal framework for combating cybercrime and shared ASEAN’s on-going efforts to counter online scam, respectively.
