The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has found Sibutramine in the dietary supplement “Itcha XS” with a manufacturing date of January 10th, 2024, and an expiration date of September 1st, 2026. The public is advised to be cautious when purchasing or consuming this product.
Jiraporn Sinthuprai, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office and Chair of the Consumer Protection Board, has ordered online platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok to immediately remove the product to prevent consumer harm. Relevant agencies have been instructed to investigate further to prevent similar issues in other products.
Sibutramine is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance under the Ministry of Public Health’s 2022 announcement. It is considered dangerous to public health, affecting the cardiovascular system and potentially causing severe harm or death.
The government emphasizes the importance of consumer safety and urges the public to stay informed about the products they consume. (NNT)
