Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Jungrungreangkit revealed that he recently discussed investment opportunities with the chairman of Dubai Ports World. This global company operates a fleet of 1,700 ships and manages port operations in numerous countries. The company’s executives plan to visit Thailand within this month, pending schedule arrangements, to explore potential investments.

Minister Suriya emphasized that initial studies indicate significant investment benefits for Thailand. He noted that several leading companies from Rome, Dubai, and China have expressed strong interest in the project, ensuring its viability.

He also mentioned that international roadshows have concluded, and feedback from these trips will be incorporated into the draft legislation for the Southern Economic Corridor, also known as the Land Bridge Bill. This draft will soon be presented to the Cabinet and then submitted to Parliament.

The minister assured that once the Land Bridge Bill is finalized, the project auction could commence by the end of 2025. (NNT)
