BANGKOK, 14 April 2015 – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed appreciation to the Thai people for their hospitality towards foreign visitors coming to celebrate Songkran in Thailand this year.
The Prime Minister announced that he would like to thank the Thai people for their cooperation in being a good host to foreign tourists and portraying the beauty of Thai New Year traditions. He said such warm hospitality of Thais has left a great impression on foreigners while estimating the country’s tourism income this Songkran holiday at more than 7.5 billion baht.
Gen Prayut also pointed out that, besides tourism operators, food vendors and transport service providers across the country are also enjoying lucrative business during Songkran.
The Prime Minister’s statement was made after the Ministry of Tourism and Sports revealed that over 470,000 foreign tourists had arrived in the Kingdom for this year’s Songkran Festival, increasing 39 percent compared to the same period of last year.
