Foreign Minister attends BRICS Dialogue with Developing Countries, stressing Thailand’s readiness to connect BRICS with regions and platforms for benefits for all.

H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered Thailand’s statement at “BRICS Dialogues with Developing Countries” during the BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs/International Relations Meeting in Nizhny Novgorod. Held under Russia’s Chairmanship, the theme was “Strengthening multilateralism for fair global development and security” on 11 June 2024.



In his remarks, Foreign Minister reiterated the importance of BRICS as champion of developing countries in strengthening the multilateral systems. In this regard, he highlighted Thailand can contribute to the success of BRICS, being bridge-builder that connects the group with regions and platforms, such as ASEAN, BIMSTEC, Asia Cooperation Dialogue, G77, and UN, for the common benefits of all.



Foreign Minister also proposed BRICS to expand areas of cooperation to food and energy security, supply chain, digital connectivity, and South-South cooperation as complement to North-South cooperation. (MFA)
