The Nongprue Woman’s Development Club and Nongprue Sub-District got a jump on Songkran celebrations with a traditional water-sprinkling ceremony for senior citizens.
Nongprue Mayor Mai Chaiyanit joined his wife, Jamnien, the chairwoman of the development club and 25 local seniors on April 7 at the sub-district’s municipal office.

Unlike the water-fighting free-for-all that people associate with Songkran in Pattaya, the traditional event sees people pay respect to their elders by lightly sprinkling scented water on their hands.
People then make wishes for the senior citizens’ continued health and, in return, the seniors bless their well wishers.
