Opportunity for Thai workers in South Korean seaweed farming

Deputy Government Spokesperson Karom Phonphonklang has announced that Thai workers can now apply for seasonal fishing jobs in Wando County, in South Jeolla of South Korea, without needing to pass a Korean language test.

The positions, which focus on seaweed farming, offer a monthly salary of about 2.17 million Korean won — approximately 57,900 baht — with a five-month contract that can be extended by three months.



Applicants must be aged 25-50, have at least one year of fishing experience, and meet health and legal criteria. Registration is available on the Department of Employment’s website.

Selected workers will be responsible for covering necessary expenses such as passports, health checks, criminal records, travel insurance, and membership fees, totaling around 35,000 baht.
