A drunk wallpaper hanger drowned while diving for shells in a lake near the Pattaya Kart Speedway off Thepprasit Road.
Songkram Phuangket, 47, of Srisaket was pulled from the lake April 10. Police arrived about three hours after he died, finding the man wearing jeans and no shirt, with a bucket of shells near him.
The dead man’s employer, Manop Duangpat, 50, said Songkram had reported he was going drinking with friends who lived near the lake. He arrived the next morning to pick him up for work and found the two friends asleep on the banks of the water and Songkram face down in the lake.
Police speculated Songkran went diving for shells for supper and snacks while drinking, but had too much to drink and drowned.
The body was taken to the Banglamung Hospital where relatives can collect it.
