BANGKOK, 26 April 2015 – The Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee has affirmed that he will take into consideration all reasonable suggestions related to the draft charter.
According to the CDC Chairman, Borwornsak Uwanno, the charter drafters are waiting to hear what the Cabinet and the National Council for Peace and Order have to say about the first draft of Constitution before considering if all 315 sections in the draft will remain or be cut.
Mr. Borwornsak made the comment after Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam had reportedly said there might be too much content in the draft charter.
The CDC Chairman reaffirmed that he would listen to all opinions and to adjust or cut down on the details of the draft if such calls made sense.
However, he declined to comment on political parties’ call for a delay in the next election, saying that the time frame of the charter drafting process is sufficient for the new Constitution to be perfectly written.
