Officials have declared a temporary closure of Maya Bay, Loh Samah Bay, and Lo Ko Bay in Krabi province from August 1 to September 30 for natural rehabilitation and to enhance visitor safety during the monsoon season. Yutthaphong Dumsrisuk, Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park chief, cited strong winds and rough seas as major concerns, particularly affecting Ao Loh Samah Pier—the main gateway to Maya Bay.

Maya Bay has gained international acclaim after being featured in the Hollywood film “The Beach” with Leonardo DiCaprio, and remains a popular destination for those seeking its natural beauty. Despite a slight drop in the number of visitors this month, the area has still seen a notable increase in revenue from entry fees, collecting approximately 34.74 million baht from 96,236 visitors.

While these three bays will not be accessible during the closure, other parts of Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park will remain open. For additional information, visitors are encouraged to contact park officials or refer to the park’s official Facebook page. (NNT)
