Early morning of July 28, the Phi Phi Islands experienced severe weather conditions, known locally as the Northeast Monsoon, which brought strong winds and large waves. The storm caused significant damage to coastal infrastructure and several boats anchored near the shore. The affected area stretches approximately 300 meters, from the front of Phi Phi Hospital to the passenger pier.

The storm surge dislodged paving stones and knocked over cement posts along the walkway, causing extensive damage to the coastal defenses. In addition, more than ten long-tail and speed boats were reported damaged or sunk due to the waves.




Pankham Kittithorakul, President of Ao Nang Sub-district Administrative Organization, mentioned that local authorities are currently assessing the damage. The Ao Nang Sub-district Administration Organization has been mobilized to survey the area and plan urgent repairs.

In response to the incident, the Krabi provincial authorities have issued warnings to tourism operators and visitors to exercise caution when conducting tourism activities and traveling by boat. The Meteorological Department has also issued alerts about the strong winds and waves in the area. Emergency response teams are on standby to assist tourists and locals if necessary.
