U.S. Congressional staff delegation visit Thailand

The delegation consists of 7 Congressional Staffers from various Congressional Offices in the U.S. – also in attendance were Director General Chettaphan Maksamphan and Deputy Director General Jaithai Upakarnitikaset of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs.

Mr. Nathapol Khantahiran, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs welcomed the U.S. Congressional staff delegation on the occasion of a courtesy call on during their visit to Thailand as part of the 2024 Congressional Staff Delegation program organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington on 5 August 2024. The delegation consists of 7 Congressional Staffers from various Congressional Offices in the U.S.. Also in attendance were Director General Chettaphan Maksamphan and Deputy Director General Jaithai Upakarnitikaset of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs.



Both sides discussed Thailand-U.S. relations that have increasing positive dynamism and the role of the U.S. Congress in further promoting the long-standing partnership between the two countries, based on shared values and mutual interests, including cooperation on defence, trade and investment, clean energy as well as people relations.

They also discussed how to further enhance Thailand-U.S. collaboration in the region, including under regional frameworks, especially ASEAN and IPEF and exchanged views on issues relating to regional geopolitical landscape. (MFA)
