‘6th Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Peru’ in Lima

Both sides agreed to push forward the negotiations on the full Thailand-Peru Closer Economic Partnership Agreement and discussed promoting high-level visits especially during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Peru in November 2024.

H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the 6th Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Peru with H.E. Mr. John Peter Camino Cannock, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, in Lima on 9 August 2024.



On the occasion of 60th Anniversary of Thailand-Peru diplomatic relations, the co-chairs discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in various fields: trade and investment promotion, technical cooperation, culture, sports, and gastronomy. Both sides also agreed to push forward the negotiations on the full Thailand-Peru Closer Economic Partnership Agreement and discussed promoting high-level visits especially during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Peru in November 2024. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Sports Cooperation was also addressed.

In addition, both sides discussed ways to strengthen relations within multilateral frameworks such as OECD, which Peru and Thailand are both in the accession process, and ASEAN, which Peru was granted Development Partner status in early 2024. (MFA)
