1st phase of Dawei development project suffers repeated delays

DAWEI, 8 May 2015 – The first phase of construction at the Dawei deep sea port has been delayed for the third time by the Myanmar government.

The Myanmar administration has postponed contract signings with Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited and Rojana Industrial Park Public Company Limited, which were previously scheduled in April.

The first phase of development would cover 27 square kilometers in Dawei, but has been delayed for a third time. The first two times were in March and April.

The Myanmar government has rescheduled the agreement signing to June 1. The entire Dawei deep sea port project will be built on an area of 200 square kilometers and will be the largest industrial zone in Southeast Asia.
