RAYONG, Thailand – The Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), in collaboration with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), has arrested two land officials from the Rayong Land Office branch for extorting money in exchange for land allocation services.
On September 6, Pol. Lt. Col. Sarawut Khamluang, Director of the Anti-Corruption Operations Division and officials apprehended the two suspects—one male and one female—for soliciting bribes from victims in exchange for land allocation and title deeds.
The officials were reportedly demanding 100,000 baht for land allocation, with 2,000 baht required per land parcel. This practice had been ongoing for several years. The investigation was initiated following a tip-off from a victim received through the PACC hotline at 1206. The PACC conducted further inquiries, leading to a coordinated effort with relevant agencies to arrest the suspects.
The DSI is currently handling the case and will proceed with legal actions against the land officials involved. (TNA)
