BANGKOK, ThailandThe Government Lottery Office (GLO) has released 26 million digital lottery tickets for sale, following requests from vendors to increase supply in order to meet demand, September 9. This aims to curb the issue of overpriced lottery tickets and ensure wider accessibility for the public at the official price of 80 baht per ticket.

Starting with the September 16, lottery draw, GLO added an extra 2 million digital tickets, available for purchase through the “Pao Tang” app since September 6. Vendors have been allowed to purchase between 100-500 additional tickets per round, depending on their capacity to sell. The initial batch sold out quickly, with all 2 million tickets claimed in just 22 seconds.

Col. Nun Sansanakom, GLO Director, reported that a total of 7 million tickets were ordered, exceeding the target of 2 million. Most vendors ordered the maximum allowed five books (500 tickets), with 3,786 vendors reaching this limit. Others ordered between 1-4 books each. All orders were fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis, and the tickets are now available for sale.

With the increase, the total number of digital lottery tickets for the September 16 draw has reached 26 million, up from 24 million in previous draws. This move allows more buyers to easily purchase tickets at the official price through the Pao Tang app, without any additional fees or service charges.

Col. Nun emphasized that the increased ticket supply reflects real market demand. Vendors can order more tickets if they sell out quickly, while those experiencing slower sales are not obligated to order more. GLO will continue to offer a minimum of 24 million digital tickets per draw, encouraging vendors to carefully assess their selling capacity.

GLO has also launched a digital lottery platform at www.glolotteryshop.com, allowing vendors to create their own storefronts to enhance sales and marketing efforts. (TNA)
