BANGKOK, ThailandThe Meteorological Department has issued a warning of increased rainfall across Thailand, Sep 15, with heavy rain expected in some areas, particularly in the Northeast, East, and Southern regions. People living in these areas are urged to be cautious of heavy and persistent rainfall, which could lead to flash floods and overflowing rivers, especially in foothill areas, near waterways, and low-lying regions.

This weather pattern is attributed to the monsoon trough moving across the lower Northern, upper Central, and Northeastern regions of Thailand, converging with a low-pressure system over the central coast of Vietnam. Additionally, a strong southwest monsoon is covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

The Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are expected to experience strong winds and waves, with wave heights reaching 2-3 meters and exceeding 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The lower Gulf of Thailand will also see waves up to 2 meters high, with higher waves in stormy areas. Mariners are advised to exercise caution, avoid sailing in stormy regions, and small boats in the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf should remain ashore during this period. (TNA)
