CHIANG RAI, Thailand – The Royal Thai Navy’s Disaster Relief Unit has deployed personnel and two amphibious vehicles to assist flood-hit residents in Mai Lung Khon and Mae Sai districts in Chiang Rai province. Food and water were delivered to those affected by severe flooding, which submerged vehicles and hindered relief efforts. To facilitate stranded residents’ evacuation and improve rescue teams’ access, the amphibious vehicles were positioned to block water flow and ensure safer conditions.
During the mission, the team responded to a request for assistance from a group of Myanmar migrant workers, one of whom had sustained a leg injury two days earlier. Navy personnel, along with medical support from the Border Patrol Police, successfully evacuated the injured worker and provided immediate first aid.
In addition to rescue efforts, the Disaster Relief Unit continued to distribute essential supplies, including food and drinking water, to those still in the flood-affected areas.
The Navy has pledged to remain in the district until the floodwaters recede and the situation returns to normal. (NNT)
