BANGKOK, Thailand – At the Royal Thai Police headquarters, Police Chief General Torsak Sukvimol, also known as “Big Tor,” gave a detailed testimony regarding allegations of financial links to online gambling platforms and 18 grey businesses on September 17. The case was initially filed by lawyer Sittra Biabungkerd. General Torsak spent over three hours providing evidence to the Police Complaints Review Committee (PRC), stating his confidence in the evidence presented, though he refrained from disclosing specific details.

PRC Chair, Pol. Lt. Gen. Sorasak Yenprem, confirmed that General Torsak provided all requested documents and testimonies. The committee will thoroughly review the evidence, which may take up to 180 days to complete. Should the investigation require additional time, an extension of 60 days could be granted. Importantly, even though General Torsak is set to retire soon, the investigation can still proceed, and if evidence of wrongdoing is found, it may be referred to relevant authorities for legal or disciplinary action.

Lawyer Sittra Biabungkerd, who observed the proceedings, expressed surprise at the committee’s willingness to call a high-ranking official like General Torsak for questioning. He noted that this case could lead to similar consequences as those faced by former Deputy Police Chief Surachate Hakparn, who was dismissed for similar infractions.

Sittra also plans to inquire about whether General Torsak’s wife and close associates, including Deputy Fang and Sergeant Yao, will be summoned for questioning. He emphasized that his interest in the case is impartial, driven by a desire for equal standards of justice. Sittra clarified that his presence was not to confront General Torsak, stating that if they were to meet, he would greet him respectfully. (TNA)
