US Ambassador discusses disaster relief and situation in Myanmar with Thai Foreign Minister

Both sides discussed ways to advance Thailand-U.S. alliance in various dimensions, ranging from defense cooperation, economic partnership, to disaster relief.

BANGKOK, Thailand – H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by the Honorable Robert F. Godec, Ambassador of the United States to the Kingdom of Thailand on 16 September. On this occasion, the Ambassador congratulated the Minister on his appointment to resume office and expressed condolences for the losses from the current flood situation in the North and South of Thailand.

Both sides discussed ways to advance Thailand-U.S. alliance in various dimensions, ranging from defense cooperation, economic partnership, to disaster relief. In addition, they further deliberated on enhancing collaborations at the regional level and exchanged views on the current developments in the region, including the situation in Myanmar. They also discussed both sides’ priorities for the upcoming 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York later this month. (MFA)
