BANGKOK, Thailand – A motorbike crashed into a 50-year-old man while he was crossing a zebra crossing, throwing his body more than 10 meters. The victim is in critical condition, and the rider has surrendered to Kan Na Yao Police Station, September 21.
CCTV footage from outside the Sathira Dhammasathan Meditation Center on Watcharapol Road captured the moment the motorbike sped into the man, who was crossing the road at a zebra crossing. The impact flung the man over 10 meters, leaving him with severe injuries, including broken ribs and a ruptured spleen, which doctors had to remove. The victim remains under close observation.
The motorbike rider later turned himself in to the Kan Na Yao Police Station and faces charges of reckless driving.
Locals have reported that this location has seen accidents before, as it is a four-lane road without traffic signals to stop vehicles. Some drivers may not realize that this spot is a designated pedestrian crossing. Residents are calling for authorities to install proper traffic signals to enhance safety for pedestrians and prevent future incidents. (TNA)
