BANGKOK, Thailand – The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in certain areas across northern, lower northeastern, central, eastern, and southern Thailand. Residents in these regions are urged to exercise caution as the heavy rain could lead to flash floods and runoff, particularly in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying regions.

In its 24-hour weather forecast, the department reports that a southeasterly wind is sweeping over lower northern, lower northeastern, central, eastern regions (including Pattaya), and the Gulf of Thailand. Simultaneously, a southwesterly monsoon is prevailing over the upper Andaman Sea. This combination is expected to bring heavy rainfall to parts of northern and lower northeastern Thailand, the central region (including Bangkok and its surrounding areas), the east, and the south.

People in these areas are advised to stay alert to the risks of heavy rain, which could result in flooding.

As for marine conditions, weak winds over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are expected to produce waves of around one meter in height, and over two meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Mariners in these areas are advised to navigate with caution and avoid sailing through areas with thunderstorms.

In Bangkok and its vicinity, thunderstorms are expected to cover 60% of the area, with occasional heavy rainfall. The temperature is forecasted to range between 26-27°C for the minimum and 33-35°C for the maximum. (TNA)
