BANGKOK, Thailand – The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) has expressed deep condolences and announced plans to coordinate with insurance companies to provide compensation and support to the families of two bank employees who tragically lost their lives after being struck by a bus.
The incident occurred on September 26, at approximately 8:25 a.m. when an air-conditioned bus, route 49 (2-43), number 8-55073, collided with a motorcycle at a U-turn near the Prachanukool Intersection, just off Ratchadapisek Soi 62. Both the motorcycle rider and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
In the aftermath of the accident, BMTA dispatched accident investigation personnel to the site and reached out to the victims’ families. The authority has also contacted Muang Thai Insurance Public Company Limited and Dhipaya Insurance Public Company Limited to send representatives to facilitate compensation and support for the deceased’s families, including coverage under the Motor Vehicle Accident Victims Protection Act.
To demonstrate their sympathy, BMTA plans to co-sponsor the funeral services for the victims.
BMTA is committed to expediting all necessary procedures to ensure the families receive complete compensation and support. The authority also aims to enhance operational and service protocols, prioritizing public safety. Furthermore, they will implement stricter measures for personnel involved in transportation operations to increase vigilance and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
