BANGKOK, 25 May 2015 (NNT) The Thai Industrial Sentiment Index (TISI) in April 2015 has posted a decrease to 86.2, the lowest standing for the past seven months, due largely to worries over the economic condition.
Speaking of the TISI of April, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) Suphan Mongkolsuthee pointed out that the index dropped from 87.7 in March to 86.2. The figure represented a contraction for the fourth consecutive month and the lowest record in seven months.
The Chairman attributed the continuous decline in industrial confidence to the reduction in several indicators, including the number of purchasing orders, sales, production volume, operating capital and revenue. The negative sentiment, coupled with concerns over the drought situation, has affected spending and liquidity in the agricultural and SME sectors.
Moreover, the long holiday in April also caused inconvenience to goods delivery and logistics while operators started to consider the idea of expanding their businesses to neighboring countries with high potential.
