THAILAND EVENT: Experience the Unique Tradition of the “Loi Pha Pa Thang Ruea” Festival in Lopburi! This year, join us on Sunday, October 27th, 2024, at Wat Amphawan, Bang Khan Mak Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lopburi Province for the 62nd celebration of this cultural spectacle!

The Loi Pha Pa Thang Ruea Festival is a cherished tradition among the Mon community of Bang Khan Mak. Dating back to ancient times, this festival sees a vibrant procession of decorated boats carrying offerings drifting along the historic Lopburi River—a waterway once used for trade and diplomacy during the reign of King Narai the Great.

The event kicks off at 2:00 PM as the colorful boat procession departs from Wat Amphawan. Along the route, the boats will visit several riverside temples, including:

  • Wat Choeng Tha
  • Wat Maprang Wan
  • Wat Phrommasat
  • Wat Amphawan

The journey is not just a visual delight but also a meaningful ritual as the boats stop to offer donations at each temple. This tradition serves to honor Buddhist teachings, while also promoting cultural tourism and river conservation. The festival is a testament to the harmonious relationship between the local communities and their waterways.

Don’t miss this opportunity to witness a stunning display of local heritage and support a tradition that keeps history alive.
