BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department reports that northeastern Thailand is experiencing cool mornings, while the upper regions of the country have minimal rain. Meanwhile, parts of southern Thailand are seeing heavy rainfall, with potential risks of flash floods and runoff in some areas.
Over the next 24 hours, a moderate high-pressure system from China is covering the eastern parts of northern, central, and northeastern Thailand, as well as the South China Sea. This has resulted in cooler mornings in the northeastern region and limited rain in upper Thailand. However, the monsoon trough passing through the south is causing heavy rainfall in certain areas. The public, especially in southern Thailand, is advised to remain cautious of the potential dangers from heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods and runoff, particularly in hilly areas near watercourses and low-lying regions.
For maritime conditions, the waves in the Gulf of Thailand are about 1 meter high, rising to over 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Seafarers in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to navigate carefully and avoid sailing in stormy areas.
Northern Region: Scattered thunderstorms (20% of the area), especially in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, and Tak. Low temperatures of 22-25°C, highs of 32-35°C, with southeast winds at 10-20 km/h.
Northeastern Region: Cool mornings with light rain in some areas, mainly in the southern parts. Low temperatures of 20-24°C, highs of 31-34°C, with northeast winds at 10-25 km/h.
Central Region: Scattered thunderstorms (10% of the area), mainly in Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Sakhon. Low temperatures of 23-25°C, highs of 32-34°C, with southeast winds at 10-20 km/h.
Eastern Region: Scattered thunderstorms (30% of the area) with heavy rain in parts of Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Low temperatures of 23-26°C, highs of 32-35°C, with east winds at 15-30 km/h. Sea waves are about 1 meter high, rising to over 2 meters in stormy areas.
Southern Region (East Coast): Widespread thunderstorms (70% of the area) with heavy rain in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. Low temperatures of 23-25°C, highs of 30-33°C, with variable winds at 15-30 km/h. Sea waves are about 1 meter high, rising to over 2 meters in stormy areas.
Southern Region (West Coast): Scattered thunderstorms (60% of the area) with heavy rain in Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun. Low temperatures of 24-25°C, highs of 30-33°C, with east winds at 10-30 km/h. Sea waves are less than 1 meter high, rising to over 1 meter in stormy areas.
Bangkok and Vicinity: Scattered thunderstorms (30% of the area). Low temperatures of 24-26°C, highs of 33-34°C, with east winds at 10-20 km/h.
