BANGKOK, Thailand – Ms. Theerarat Samretwanich, Deputy Minister of the Interior, has confirmed that preparations are in place to handle rising water levels along the Chao Phraya River, October 8. Water pumps are ready at all key points, and SMS flood alerts will be sent out promptly, even in areas without phone signals.

Ms. Theerarat stated that the water levels in the Chao Phraya River, particularly in the Bangkok area, have begun to rise. The Ministry has ensured that all water pumps are operational. Coordination between various agencies has enabled close monitoring of the situation in flood-prone areas along the river. Dams and water barriers have been inspected, and warnings will be issued to residents as necessary.



People living near the river are generally aware of rising water levels, but they are still urged to take precautions, such as rehearsing evacuation plans and securing belongings. While unexpected rain may sometimes occur, she emphasized that preparedness is key to ensuring public safety.

Ms. Theerarat further noted that warnings can be sent instantly via multiple channels, including SMS and local government authorities, ensuring residents receive alerts, even in areas with limited phone signal reception. (TNA)
