BANGKOK, Thailand The Metropolitan Police have arrested a 31-year-old woman for operating a fraudulent Facebook page, luring customers into buying wooden furniture but failing to deliver the goods after receiving payment, Oct 10.

The suspect, Ms. Thanyarat, was apprehended under a warrant issued by the Taling Chan Criminal Court. She is facing charges of fraud and uploading false information into a computer system that could cause damage to others. Police arrested her near Wat Tha Kwian in Klong Khoi, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi.

The case began on June 23, 2022, when a victim reported to the Mae Chan Police Station that they had been scammed. On June 10, 2022, the victim came across a Facebook page selling furniture, including a makha wood living room set. After communicating with the seller and agreeing on the price, the victim transferred money in three installments: 7,000 baht for the makha wood set, 13,500 baht for a teak set including a display cabinet and TV table, and 6,000 baht for a teak cabinet, totaling 26,500 baht.
