Trang Police steps up anti human trafficking operation

TRANG, 29 May 2015 – Trang Provincial Police has urged all agencies to speed up the crackdown of human trafficking activities, encouraging the public to inform any cases through the 191 hotline, says the Trang Police Chief.

The Trang Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Jeerawat Udomsud revealed that the Trang Provincial Police has appointed police officers in 16 police stations to coordinate information with administrative officials from the 10 district offices in the province, to maximize human trafficking suppression operations.

He said that this measure has been initiated from the remark by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, placing the human trafficking suppression and prevention as a national agenda, and a central command from the Royal Thai Police Commissioner General who has appointed all agencies to eradicate human trafficking.

The Trang Provincial Police special forces are now following up on this matter closely, while the public are encouraged to help monitor the situation and report any suspicious activities to the police through the 191 hotline.

The Trang Provincial Police Commander has also added that the public should be aware that human trafficking activities, which mainly consists of forced labour and forced prostitution of youths under 18 years.
