BANGKOK, 29 May 2015 – Hotline 1330 of the National Health Security Office (NHSO) received the highest popular votes from consumers to become the Best Consumer Protection Agency in 2015 thanks to its efficiency in addressing public complaints, according to NHSO Deputy Secretary-General Weerapat Phankrut.
The award was presented by the Independent Organization for Consumer Protection (IOCP), which called on consumers to vote for a consumer protection agency which could solve their complaints through website platform of the Consumer Protection Foundation during 1 Dec 2014 – 20 Apr 2015. There were a total of seventeen candidate agencies for the award. The NHSO hotline 1330 was ranked first with highest scores from public votes.
Mr.Weerapat said the NHSO has continuously developed the service of the hotline to ensure it is an effective channel for receiving public complaints and processing the inquiries of those who are insured under Universal Coverage.
Jumpol Cheanjitsiri, Vice President of IOCP, said that the IOCP has cooperated with the Foundation for Consumer as well as the Confederation of Consumer Organization to observe “Thailand Consumer Rights Day”. That day was the day consumers were invited to vote for best agency as a moral support for them to pursue the efforts in protecting consumer rights.
