BANGKOK, ThailandThe Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall across the upper southern region due to the monsoon trough. This weather pattern may lead to flash floods and overflowing streams in certain areas in this couple of days.

According to the department, easterly and southeasterly winds are carrying moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, affecting lower northeastern, central, and eastern regions, including Bangkok and its surrounding areas. This is expected to bring heavy rain to parts of the central plains and the capital.

Meanwhile, a weak high-pressure system continues to cover the upper northeastern region, causing cooler morning temperatures in that area. The department advises residents in northern Thailand to take care of their health due to the changing weather conditions.

In the upper southern region, the monsoon trough will result in heavy to very heavy rainfall. Residents are advised to stay alert for potential hazards such as flash floods and water surges, especially in hillside areas, near streams, and in low-lying regions.

As for maritime conditions, the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will experience light winds, with waves under one meter. However, areas with thunderstorms may see waves rising over two meters. The department advises sailors to avoid sailing in stormy areas. (TNA)
