Heavy rain continues in Pattaya, Bangkok and the South; Temperatures drop in Northern Thailand

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast warning of heavy rain in some areas of the Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the Eastern region, and the South.

Over the next 24 hours, a monsoon trough will pass through the upper Southern region and the Eastern region, connecting to a low-pressure system over the central coast of Vietnam. Moisture brought by the easterly and southeasterly winds from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will cover the lower Northeastern region, Central Thailand, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the Eastern region. These conditions are expected to bring heavy rain to some parts of the Central region, Bangkok, and surrounding provinces, the Eastern region, and the South.

Residents in affected areas are advised to be cautious of possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in mountainous areas and low-lying regions. In the Andaman Sea, waves are expected to reach 1 meter in height, while the Gulf of Thailand will experience waves lower than 1 meter. However, in areas with thunderstorms, waves could reach over 2 meters, and sailors should avoid navigating in these areas.

Bangkok and Vicinity: Thunderstorms covering 60% of the area, with some heavy rain expected. Temperatures will range from 25-26°C at the lowest to 32-35°C at the highest. Easterly winds at 10-20 km/h.



Northern Region: Thunderstorms over 30% of the area, mainly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Sukhothai, and Phitsanulok. Temperatures will range from 23-25°C at the lowest to 33-36°C at the highest. Southeasterly winds at 10-15 km/h.

Northeastern Region: Thunderstorms in 20% of the area, mainly in Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani. Temperatures will range from 23-25°C to 33-35°C. Easterly winds at 10-20 km/h.

Central Region: Thunderstorms covering 40% of the area with some heavy rain, particularly in Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Saraburi, and Ayutthaya. Temperatures will range from 25-26°C to 33-35°C. Easterly winds at 10-20 km/h.

Eastern Region: Thunderstorms covering 60% of the area with some heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo, Chonburi (Pattaya), Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Temperatures will range from 24-25°C to 30-33°C. Variable winds at 10-30 km/h. Waves will be less than 1 meter high, but could exceed 2 meters in stormy areas.




Southern Region (East Coast): Thunderstorms over 60% of the area with heavy rain expected in Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. Temperatures will range from 23-26°C to 31-34°C. Southeasterly winds at 10-30 km/h. Waves will be less than 1 meter high, exceeding 2 meters in stormy areas.

Southern Region (West Coast): Thunderstorms covering 60% of the area with heavy rain in Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun. Temperatures will range from 24-25°C to 32-33°C. Southwesterly winds at 15-30 km/h. Waves will be around 1 meter high, exceeding 2 meters in stormy areas.
