BANGKOK, Thailand The Thai Meteorological Department has issued its 7th announcement, warning of unsettled weather across Thailand from October 20-21. Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in many regions, with some areas likely to experience very heavy rain and gusty winds.

The department reports that a high-pressure system or cool air mass from China will spread over the upper northern and northeastern regions of Thailand, as well as the South China Sea. Meanwhile, easterly and southeasterly winds will bring moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to cover the lower northern, central, and eastern regions. Additionally, the monsoon trough will pass over the upper southern region. This combination of factors will result in widespread heavy rainfall, strong winds, and possible flash floods.

The public is advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms and strong winds, as well as avoid being in open areas, under large trees, or near unsecured billboards. Those living in low-lying areas, particularly near mountainous terrain or waterways, should be on alert for flash floods and landslides. The public is also encouraged to take care of their health due to the sudden weather changes.
