BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra expressed excitement over reports of Thai-born K-pop star Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban of BLACKPINK possibly attending Thailand’s New Year countdown event, October 22. The Prime Minister confirmed that the event is being fully organized by the private sector, with the government ready to support the initiative.
Speaking at Government House, Paetongtarn clarified that the invitation extended to Lisa is solely the responsibility of private organizers, with no direct involvement from the government. Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong had mentioned hearing about the private sector’s plans to invite Lisa, but the specific details of the arrangements are still unclear.
When asked whether the government would support the event if Lisa attended, the Prime Minister responded enthusiastically, affirming the government’s willingness to assist the private sector.
