SURIN, 7 June 2015 – Mr. Niran Kullayanamit, Governor of Surin, said his province has been developing trade ties with Cambodia.
The province had concluded contract farming and business matching agreements with five Cambodian provinces for implementation during 2012-2014. Those Cambodian provinces include Oddar Meancheay, Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, Stung-treng and Siem Riep.
Mr. Niran said a number of 80 government and business representatives from Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiyaphum, Burirum, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket will be meeting their Cambodian counterparts in Siem Reap during June 24-26 to review the cooperation in trade, investment, and tourism.
According to the governor, previous obstacles in bilateral trade lied in contract farming of agricultural products while business matching was still faced with language barrier, rare chances of meeting, and difficulties in making cross border visits.
The Governor said that at the up-coming meeting of representatives of the two sides, discussions will be concentrated on tapioca, soybean, pepper, as well as consumer goods, vehicle and spare parts, and tourism.
