BANGKOK, ThailandThe Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in parts of upper Southern Thailand, advising residents in affected areas to take precautions against potential flooding and flash floods. Meanwhile, the Northeast is expected to see a slight drop in temperatures, and cool morning weather will continue in upper Thailand. Scattered thunderstorms are also likely in the eastern (including Pattaya) and lower central regions.

The 24-hour weather forecast reports that a monsoon trough is moving through Southern Thailand, accompanied by a low-pressure cell moving along this trough toward the Andaman Sea. Additionally, moderate northeast monsoon winds are covering the upper Gulf of Thailand and the upper South, resulting in heavy rain in the southern areas. Caution is urged for residents in the region due to the risk of heavy downpours and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to sudden flooding, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.

In the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea, moderate waves are expected, with waves reaching 1-2 meters in height in the upper Gulf and about 1 meter in the lower Gulf and Andaman Sea. Thunderstorms could raise wave heights above 2 meters, prompting warnings for boat operators to exercise caution and avoid navigating in stormy areas.

A high-pressure or cool air mass from China is expected to extend over upper Thailand and the South China Sea. This will bring cool morning weather and a slight temperature drop in the Northeast, while scattered thunderstorms are anticipated in the East and lower Central regions. Residents are encouraged to protect their health in light of the changing weather, and farmers are advised to take steps to safeguard crops.

Bangkok and surrounding areas may experience thunderstorms in 30% of the area, with temperatures ranging from a low of 24-25°C to a high of 31-33°C. (TNA)
