The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, June 14. Everyone is warmly welcome. Lance Stoll, a former sociology professor, will talk about climate change from a sociological perspective. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
A special cycling event titled “Share The Road @ Pattaya City” will be held on Sunday, June 14 with a 7 a.m. start point at Pattaya City Hall. Cyclists will take a circuitous route of approx. 35km out to Lake Mabrpachan and back. The event aims to promote better co-operation and understanding between cyclists and other road users and is open to all. An Indian Classical and Fusion music concert will be held at the Siam Bayshore Hotel, Pattaya on Sunday, June 28, starting at 7.30 p.m. In a program of sitar and vocal music one of the big names in Indian classical music, Purbayan Chatterjee, will be joined by sonorous vocalist, Joyeta Choudhury. They will be accompanied on tabla by Rupak Battacharjee, one of the finest tabla players of the younger generation. A portion of the proceeds from the concert will be given to the Princess Sirindhorn Chulalongkorn Craniofacial Center, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, and the Thai Red Cross Society. The annual Canada Day celebrations will be held at the NIST International School in Bangkok on Saturday, June 27. The event will feature children’s games, tug-of-war, and various sporting activities for adults, including the ever-popular ball hockey tournament. A buffet dinner will be served following the afternoon activities with the Canadian Embassy bringing in Canadian beef and salmon. The Pattaya International Ladies Club will be hosting an evening of music with the Salaya Chamber Orchestra at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, at the Ballroom of the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort in north Pattaya. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
