MANILA – Super Typhoon ‘Man-Yi’ made landfall on Luzon, the Philippines’ most populous island, and bringing heavy rains to Metro Manila, the nation’s capital, Nov 17.
Named after a reservoir in Hong Kong, ‘Man-Yi’ is the sixth typhoon to hit the Philippines in just one month. The storm, with winds reaching 185 km/h, slightly weakened after striking Panganiban in Catanduanes Province late Saturday. By this morning, it had crossed into Camarines Norte Province on Luzon.
The typhoon has triggered widespread evacuations, with over a million people relocated from high-risk areas. While no casualties have been reported, strong winds caused structural damage in Catanduanes. Authorities continue to monitor rainfall and provide aid to affected communities. (TNA)
