CHIANG MAI, Thailand – A 27-year-old man shot a husband three times after being insulted while trying to stop a loud argument between a married couple on November 18. The suspect has been arrested and faces three charges, police said.

CCTV footage captured the incident in downtown Chiang Mai. The suspect, identified as Pithaya, a caretaker at a local guesthouse, attempted to mediate a heated argument between a nail salon owner and her husband across the street. The husband reportedly insulted Pithaya with vulgar language, enraging him. Pithaya challenged the man before drawing a 9mm pistol and firing three shots, leaving the victim critically injured.

After the shooting, Pithaya fled the scene on a motorcycle but later turned himself in to authorities. Police recovered the hidden firearm and charged him with attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and carrying a weapon in public without justifiable cause.

The victim is now in stable condition. Police revealed that Pithaya has a criminal history, having served a five-year sentence for drug-related charges in 2019. Since his release, he had been working in Chiang Mai until this violent incident. (TNA)
