BANGKOK, 16 June 2015 – The Government Lottery Office (GLO) has signed an agreement with PTT Plc. for the latter to allow lottery ticket vendors to sell tickets in PTT petrol stations without having to pay rent.
According to the agreement, eligible sellers will be selected by the governor of each province, with priority being given to the handicapped and small sellers. The scheme will be implemented for one year, after which an evaluation will be carried out.
Major General Aphirat Khongsomphong, chairman of the GLO’s board, expressed confidence that current measures to ensure the sale of lottery tickets at 80 baht will be successful. He said 60-70% of lottery tickets sellers have been selling them at 80 baht per ticket. In addition to fining sellers that violate the 80 baht price policy, authorities are also tracing the overpriced lottery tickets to lottery wholesalers who are mainly responsible for the overpricing.
