CHIANG MAI, Thailand – Temperatures at Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai’s Chom Thong district plummeted to 8°C in the morning (Nov 21), attracting thousands of visitors eager to witness the sunrise. However, heavy fog blanketed the area, obscuring the view and leaving many disappointed.
At Kew Mae Pan viewpoint, a popular spot for photography and check-ins, the temperature was slightly warmer at 11°C. Despite the cold, tourists filled the area, crowding the parking lots and local eateries. Many came prepared with winter gear, including jackets and woolen hats, to brave the chilly conditions.
Over 3,000 tourists visit Doi Inthanon daily to experience the cold weather. On Wednesday alone, 3,246 visitors ascended the mountain, including 1,654 Thais and 1,592 foreigners, with 1,007 vehicles recorded. Despite the fog, the breathtaking atmosphere continues to draw crowds seeking to enjoy Thailand’s winter charm. (TNA)
