BANGKOK, Thailand – The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has partnered with the Ministry of Public Health, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) to ensure uninterrupted electricity for patients relying on medical equipment. Under a memorandum of understanding signed on November 25, the initiative guarantees that households with such patients are safeguarded from power disconnections in all circumstances.

The effort, supported by networks of village health volunteers, ERC regional offices, and local energy distribution centers, seeks to establish a comprehensive national database of these patients to prevent accidental service interruptions. Public awareness campaigns will also be launched to inform caregivers of their rights and guide them in maintaining an uninterrupted energy supply.

The MEA, overseeing urban areas such as Bangkok, will enhance its operations to protect vulnerable households, while the PEA will adopt advanced technologies to address the needs of rural and remote communities. Both agencies are committed to integrating data and refining emergency response systems to ensure reliable power supply.

The collaboration demonstrates a shared dedication to equitable energy access and public safety, striving to eliminate risks for patients dependent on electricity while promoting a more sustainable and inclusive energy system for the future. (NNT)
