Sunday, June 7, Green Valley – Stableford

1st Andy Kelleher (9) 37pts

2nd Ed Wyckoff (12) 36pts

3rd Simon Spalding (0) 36pts

Andy Kelleher was the man of the match as he posted a fine 37 points, and he needed every one of them to edge a trio of players with even par rounds: Ed ‘Our man in the White House’ Wyckoff, Aussie star Simon Spalding and Chaten ‘the Rajah’ Patel.  The subsequent count back dictated that those latter three finished in that order.

Monday, June 8, Khao Kheow – Stableford

1st Paul Smith (3) 35pts

2nd Colin Davis (18) 33pts

One can’t overlook the fact that this low season is the lowest of low seasons in recent memory.  However, the golfing numbers are still sufficiently robust that a glowing performance should be out there every week.  Alas, it doesn’t seem that such was the case this past week (save a three podium appearance by Paul Smith).

Paul Smith.Paul Smith.

Paul’s 35 points was the top score of the day and the first of his pay window visits.  The Donkey, who has been out to pasture, showed he is heading back to the podium as he lifted the silver with 33 points.

Note: Colin Davis and Ed Wyckoff both finished their rounds suffering from dehydration.

Wednesday, June 10, St. Andrews – Stableford

1st Bob Watson (5) 39pts

2nd Paul Smith (3) 38pts

3rd Bruce Anderson (11) 33pts

Desmond Muirhead’s monster seemed to intimidate the society as a modest group showed up to take it on.  Aussie star Bob Watson showed no signs of fear and his splendid 39 points was the top score on the day.  Paul Smith took the silver with a sound 38 points for his second pay window trip this week.

Three players vied for the bronze and final podium spot; Bruce Anderson, Maurice Roberts and Yves Moutier and in the following count back it was Bruce who emerged with the bronze, leaving Maurice and Yves at sea level and potless.

Friday, June 12, Phoenix – Stableford

1st Paul Smith (3) 38pts

2nd Graham Rice (13) 35pts

3rd Yves Moutier (14) 33pts

Perhaps still shell-shocked from Wednesday’s test at St. Andrews, the society decided to move to the white tees for the day’s round at Phoenix.  The man on form made it three podium appearances in as many games as he blitzed the field with a sparkling 39 points.  Paul Smith was three clear of Graham Rice and a further two clear of Yves Moutier.
