BANGKOK, Thailand – Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director General of the Department of International Organizations, had a meeting with Ms. Tammi Lynn Sharpe, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Representative in Thailand on 29 November.
Both sides reiterated their readiness to promote cooperation between Thailand and UNHCR in providing assistance to and protection of various groups of forcibly-displaced persons and stateless persons in Thailand and the region. The UNHCR reaffirmed its commitment to support the Thai government’s efforts in assisting Myanmar Displaced Persons and implementing the National Screening Mechanism (NSM). (MFA)
