Thai Foreign Affairs meets Working Group on Discrimination Against Women and Girls during official visit

Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi engages in a productive discussion with members of the Working Group on Discrimination Against Women and Girls on promoting gender equality and women’s rights in Thailand and globally.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with Ms. Haina Lu and Ms. Ivana Krstić, Members of the Working Group on discrimination against women and girls (WGDAWG), a Special Procedure under the Human Rights Council (HRC), on the occasion of their official country visit to Thailand during 2-13 December 2024.

Both sides exchanged views on issues regarding the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality in Thailand and at the international level, as well as the support and promotion of the role of women in diplomacy.



The Working Group visited the One Stop Crisis Center (OSCC) at the Police Hospital, Mother and Child Immigration Detention Center, and the Central Women’s Correctional Institution. The Working Group also discussed with representatives from the Royal Thai Police, the Police Hospital, the Immigration Bureau, the Ministry of Public Health and the Parliament.

In addition, they also attended cluster meetings with relevant government agencies to discuss issues related to justice, national security, and gender equality, as well as policy and planning, good governance and environment, education, tourism and cultures, and economy and society. (MFA)
