British man critical after lovers’ spat shooting

A British man was critically injured after allegedly being shot by his lover who he accused of seeing other men.

Colin Thomas Gardiner, 67, suffered two 38-caliber gunshots to the neck and ear region outside the K Apartments on Soi Sethi in Nongprue June 17.

Teeradate Kakrong, 33 of Bangkok, was arrested shortly later sitting on his motorbike at the Vientiane Restaurant in South Pattaya after the apartment manager told police he and Gardiner had been arguing before the shooting. Officers recovered the gun from him.

Police reported that Teeradate said he Gardiner had been in a relationship for eight months. Before the shooting, he had called his lover to pick him up at the bus station. En route, they got into a heated conversation over Teeradate’s lifestyle.

The Thai man said his British boyfriend was very jealous and accused him of sleeping with other men, police said. So investigators said Teeradate took out a gun and shot him in anger.
