At just 80 baht per night, Jay’s Guesthouse offers stunning views, spotless facilities, and a warm, family-like atmosphere for budget travelers.

CHIANG MAI, Thailand – A small guesthouse in Chiang Mai is proving that it’s possible to find both quality and affordability.

Jay’s Guesthouse, a humble three-story building located across from Wat Chiang Man in the city’s old quarter, has been delighting travelers from around the world for over a decade with its incredibly low prices and exceptional service.

For just 80 baht (approximately $2.50) per night, guests can enjoy a bed in a shared room, complete with stunning views of the city and mountains. Private rooms are also available for slightly more. Despite the budget-friendly rates, guests rave about the clean facilities, friendly atmosphere, and the warm hospitality of the owner, Nongnuch “Jay” Supatthanaporn, who is affectionately known as “Mama” by her guests.

Jay, a 59-year-old former hotel worker, opened the guesthouse 12 years ago with the aim of providing affordable accommodations for budget travelers. She focuses on creating a home-away-from-home environment, where guests feel comfortable and cared for.

“This isn’t about making money. It’s a home for budget travelers. Even young graduates can stay here. Many return years later, and I love seeing their smiles. It brings me great joy,” she said.

The guesthouse has become a popular spot for backpackers and digital nomads, many of whom return year after year. Its reputation has grown largely through word-of-mouth, with satisfied guests sharing their experiences on social media and travel forums. (TNA)
