BANGKOK, Thailand – The government has announced financial relief for residents affected by flooding between August and December 2024, with up to 9,000 baht allocated per household in 47 provinces and an additional 10,000 baht to assist with debris removal of each flood-ravaged family in the North. More than 2.7 billion baht has already been distributed through the Government Savings Bank, while initial disbursements for southern provinces are scheduled to begin by January 16, 2025. Affected residents can file claims at local government offices or online at flood67.disaster.go.th.

The floods caused significant damage to properties and livelihoods across the northern, northeastern, central, and southern regions. In response, the government established the Flood, Storm, and Landslide Relief Operations Center, coordinated by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). The Minister of Interior oversees recovery efforts, while the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives leads water management and infrastructure restoration. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has instructed all relevant agencies to closely monitor the situation, implement recovery efforts, and provide timely updates to the public.
