BANGKOK, Thailand – The Green Festival 2024, hosted by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), is underway at Chatuchak Park in Bangkok and runs until December 15. Under the theme “No Tree, No Breath, No Life,” the event showcases the essential role of large trees in improving air quality, cooling urban areas, and reducing pollution.
Organized in partnership with groups such as the Thailand Urban Tree Network and the Thai Arboriculture Association (TAA), the festival offers engaging activities for all ages. A key highlight is the 2024 Tree Climbing Championship, featuring professional climbers from seven countries performing under the guidance of international arborists. Visitors are offered a chance to take part in workshops and demonstrations on tree risk assessment, lightning protection, and propagation techniques. Children get to enjoy interactive activities such as tree climbing and ecological treasure hunts, while creative workshops include terrarium-making, natural printing, and hornbill painting.
The festival also features exhibitions and booths highlighting innovative urban greening projects and collaborations between environmental organizations. Displays of green space restoration in Bangkok, dust-filtering tree initiatives, and cycling-powered juice stations are among the attractions. Visitors can also access wellness services, such as traditional Thai medicine checkups, and shop for eco-friendly products.
With just one day left, the Green Festival 2024 invites the public to Chatuchak Park to explore activities and exhibitions celebrating the importance of trees in creating healthier, more livable cities. For more information, contact the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration or its festival partners.
