PSC Bunker Boys at The Ranch

Monday, June 15, Mountain Shadow (blue tees) – Stableford

With some 1,200 yards difference between the blue and silver tees, we were taking side bets that “Silver Bird”, a.k.a. PJ, would easily walk away with the dough.  It wasn’t to be though and in fact he wasn’t even close (except to the greens, that is).

The man of the day was Les Hall, taking first place with 35 points on a count back over Sean Murphy in second and Tony Robbins third.  It will most likely be a round that Sean won’t easily forget as he was cruising along pretty well until the 9th hole where he managed to get on in the green in regulation and then proceeded to 5-putt!

1st Les Hall (24) 35pts

2nd Sean Murphy (17) 35pts

3rd Tony Robbins (15) 35pts

Near Pins: Geoff Cox, Les Burns, Peter Habgood, Gerry Wazalankoff

Wednesday, June 17, Bangpakong (yellow tees) – Stableford

I kept thinking I should have stayed in bed as we left The Ranch with our headlights on.  With no rain gear and old golf shoes coming apart at the seams I didn’t need to be out walking around in the rain all day.  We got dumped on big time heading up the motorway making the long drive even longer. Luckily, it had died down to a steady drizzle by the time we teed-off.

Thomas Nyborg.

The rain didn’t faze Thomas or Torben as they posted some unbelievable scores considering the conditions.  ‘Lift, clean, and place’ obviously helped, but still.

1st Thomas Nyborg (17) 44pts

2nd Torben Lindgard (33) 41pts

3rd Tony Robbins (15) 36pts

Near Pins: Thomas Nyborg, Richard Baldotto (2)

Friday, June 19, Eastern Star – Stableford

Eastern Star was shining a little brighter than usual on this particular Friday.  The talk back at The Ranch was that the course was a solid okay.  The greens were, as usual, a little slow but not dreadfully, the fairways discernible with only a few nasty patches, and the bunkers had been dislodged of clay and filled with sand.  All in all a good value at PSC rates.

We welcomed back Jimmy Carr and Gerry Wazalenkoff from their recent stints with Pattaya’s medical professionals and they didn’t waste any time making their way to the podium to claim near pin prizes.

1st Peter Allen (31) 37pts

2nd Frank Quinlan (27) 34pts

3rd Sean Murphy (17) 32pts

Near Pins: Jimmy Carr, Gerry Wazalankoff

Note:  The Bunker Boys play out of The Ranch bar on Pattaya 3rd Road (in front of the fire station, and almost opposite the Buffalo Bar).  We play on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, so if you enjoy a fun day out, and a friendly but competitive golf competition why not come and join us.

We meet at The Ranch at 9 a.m. for breakfast and transportation, and new players are always welcome.  Contact “Buff” on 086 046 5091 or 080 605 5663 for all enquiries or check website: www. bunkersociety.com.
